Sometimes I wonder what is wrong with me. Just look at the charts I've amassed during the past couple of months. Will I ever stitch them? How long will it take to stitch all of these? Am I being realistic? But see how pretty they are! All the lovely colors, the dreams of pleasant stitching time, all of the possibilities of thread and fabric combinations. Ahhhhh, the bliss!
Are all of us stitchers alike in this? Even when we're contently stitching one project, in a little corner of our minds lies an image of a new chart we saw. We can't get that image to go away. For instance, just this week my friend in stitching and Facebook friend, Jenetta, posted a photo of the chart "E Pluribis Unum" by Summer House Stitche Workes and now I need it. I can imagine this hanging in our office - it would look so good there.
Does this kind of "collecting" go across crafting lines? For example, do scrapbookers have to have that cute new rubber stamp or embellishment even though they already have boxes of stamps and embellishments? Do crocheters and knitters purchase skeins of the coolest yarn even though they have no idea of what they would create with it? I'm pretty sure they do. I don't think stitchers are the only ones with this collecting affliction.
In the meantime, I'll have to ask Terrie at The Stitch Store if she can get this for me. And then organize my charts. I do have a funny feeling that some other recent acquisitions may turn up when I do that!
Constantly. I joined the WIPocalpyse this year and when I post the next full moon, I will be making changes in my list. I came up with an idea and I want to work on that, so some of my projects will be going back in the dark unstarted project caverns of my house, and new ones will be coming to the light.
ReplyDeleteI have a tub full of my charts and magazines and a few on the computer. I have given away quite a few and probably will give away more. If God says I have to stay on earth until I cross stitch or crochet it all, I will be here a very long time!
ReplyDeleteThe sad thing is when you have several crafting passions. I have enough cross stitch patterns, fibers and fabrics to last two lifetimes. I also have enough quilting fabrics and patterns to last two or three lifetimes. Then there's the never ending yarn stash for my crocheting and knitting projects. Sigh...
ReplyDeleteI have the same problem, just this past weekend I made a trip to my local shop and picked up some more charts, but the problem being is that on my way home from work today I was trying to figure out if I had time this weekend to go back to pick up those charts that I liked and didn't purchase. I need to practice control. The shop is having 20% off this week thou. What is a stitcher to do? Lol!
ReplyDeleteI've seen quilters with a wall of fat quarters. Makes me feel better for "just" having a tub or two of it. At this point, I think I view S.E.X. like a person who collects rare books. Putting them together for the future good. I've cut back, but I can't stop.
ReplyDeleteI know I've signed up for The Prim Sisters mailing from The Country Sampler and I'm looking forward to the next project! It's gonna be from Stacy Nash! I love her stuff! I do understand completely about stash! But, the fact is, I will always have enough projects to choose from!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely, this need to have stash is cross craft lines! I have way too many stamps and now I am in a stitching phase.
ReplyDeleteA friend made a helpful comment....she said stashing and stitching are two separate hobbies! I am using that line of thinking!
